Indeed is a worldwide employment-related and job search website founded in 2004 by Paul Forster and Rony Kahan in both Austin, TX and Stamford, CT. Indeed’s Stamford offices house the sales, client services, finance, and human resources teams while the product development staff is based in Austin. As of October 1, 2012, Indeed became an independent operating unit of Japan-based Recruit Co. Ltd. which later acquired the competing site Simply Hired as well. Indeed’s services for job seekers include job searches, recommended job alerts, resume upload, storage and searches, salary search, and website forums. User accounts for personal resume uploads and job searches are generally free. Revenue for the site comes from employer accounts for seeking out potential employees via the site. Paid employer accounts have access to assessments for candidates, candidate tracking, interview scheduling, job board posting, and resume searches. Previously employer accounts could browse the database of user-submitted resumes for free and pay per candidate to contact the user. Searching for resumes remains free, but employers now need a subscription to contact candidates. Employers have a choice between two tiers of membership, the standard $100 per month subscription may contact up to 30 new contacts per month. The professional $250 per month subscription meanwhile can contact up to 100 contacts per month. Credits are earned for future contacts based on responses to employer-initiated contacts.
