About World Gym

World Gym International was founded by Joe Gold in 1976 and is now a subsidiary of World Fitness Partners, LLC. It started on what is known as Muscle Beach in Venice Beach, California. Today, there are over 220 independently-owned franchises on six continents, in 20 countries and territories. Its headquarters are still located in Southern California in Los Angeles. Each World Gym location includes an entire host of amenities such as cardio equipment, free weights, strength machines, World Gym Athletics, locker rooms with showers, group classes, Pro Shop, tanning beds, personal training, Barbell Cafe, Childcare, and hydromassage. Group classes offer a fitness buffet from which to choose such as yoga, kickboxing, boot camp, HIIT (high-intensity interval training) and spin class. Nutritional counseling and personal training are available, as well as women’s only training area. Many locations have basketball and tennis courts, mixed martial arts studios, swimming pools, and saunas. Memberships to World Gym are based on a 12-month contract with a range of initiation fees, monthly fees, and a standard cancellation fee. Standard rates have an initiation fee starting at $20 with a monthly fee starting at $19.95. Premier rates have an initiation fee starting at $20 and a monthly fee starting at $34.95. When paid annually, membership initiation fee is $49.00 with a per-visit fee of $5. Follow these steps:

  1. Get a letter together and request cancellation within it. Provide all of your account info as listed. Sign and date the letter and Keep a copy for your records.
  2. Send the letter, making sure to use Certified mail, to the address provided to you by the gym
  3. Using your phone, call the phone number for the gym you signed up at or attended most frequently after your letter is received to ensure your account is cancelled
  4. Request proof of your transaction in the form of an email or confirmation number
  5. Be sure to retain your cancellation proof for your records
