About Retro Fitness

Retro Fitness was founded by CEO Eric Casaburi in 2002 and is based in New Jersey though many locations are independently operated as franchises by various individuals. The gyms feature cardio and weight equipment, circuit training, personal training services, movie theaters that feature films from the 1980s, group fitness classes, tanning, smoothie bars, supplements for purchase, and chiropractic services in some locations. The largest number of Retro Fitness locations are in New York and New Jersey, but there are locations in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, Illinois, Florida, Utah, North Carolina, Virginia, Michigan, and California as well. Memberships are available in three tiers, basic, standard and team. All membership tiers offered by Retro Fitness provide the member wit the ability to use any Retro Fitness location as part of their membership in case of moves or if the member is traveling out of their normal gym’s vicinity. Basic memberships are $21.39 per month with a $20.00 enrollment fee and $53.49 annual fee. Standard memberships include childcare for 1 child, group exercise classes, and hydromassage for $32.09 per month with a $20.00 enrollment fee and $53.49 annual fee, while team memberships include all standard benefits and team training sessions for $91.39 per month with $20.00 enrollment fee and $53.49 annual fee. Memberships typically have a 12-month membership agreement though a member may buy out of the membership early or cancel the automatic renewal before the end of term so the membership does not renew automatically as they normally do. Follow these steps:

  1. Get a letter together and request cancellation within it. Provide all of your account info as listed. Sign and date the letter and Keep a copy for your records.
  2. Send the letter, making sure to use Certified mail, to the address provided to you by the gym
  3. Using your phone, call the phone number for the gym you signed up at or attended most frequently after your letter is received to ensure your account is cancelled
  4. Request proof of your transaction in the form of an email or confirmation number
  5. Be sure to retain your cancellation proof for your records
