Amnesty International is a London-based non-profit organization that supports human rights. The organization was founded in July 1961. The founder was Peter Benenson. The organization focuses on legal advocacy, media attention, direct-appeal campaigns, research, and lobbying. Their main goal is to protect human rights. There are currently more than seven million members and supporters. The Secretary-General of the organization is Kumi Naidoo. The organization pushes forth change by researching into the violations, advocating and lobbying to persuade decision-makers to do the right thing, and starting campaigns, protests, and petitions.
